About Sunstopper Blinds

Sunstopper Blinds and Awnings is a family run business established in 1984 working as an independent company from the back of Marshall’s Furniture Shop in Hertford making and supplying Vertical Blinds and Dutch Canopies.

In 1994 Howard’s wife, Philippa Marshall, now a director, joined the company and helped expand the business to specialise in the commercial sector, finding new contract customers.

In 2003 David Thornhill, an extremely loyal and long serving member of staff, was made a director. By the end of 2007, Sunstopper Blinds employed several members of full and part time staff. We are still an independent company and have grown over the years, moving from Hertford to our present factory and showroom in Welwyn Garden City in April 1999.

The British Blind Shutter Association is the only window blind association in Britain and is there to give help, confidence and support to the public. As a long term full member of this association we fully support the changing times within the industry including the most recent “make it safe campaign” to improve blind cord safety within the home for young children.

We provide a free, no obligation measuring and quotation service and pride ourselves in giving a friendly long term and knowledgeable service to our customers with no hard sell.

We specialise in Conservatory Blinds, Patio Awnings and Canopies. To compliment our own ranges of Vertical Blinds, Roller Blinds and Fly Screens we supply and install Blinds from all the UK’s major manufacturers including Silent Gliss, Luxaflex Blinds and Caribbean Awnings to name but a few.
